Best Team for Gym Battles in Pokemon Reloaded

Build a gym-crushing team: type coverage, roles, and a sample roster that handles all eight badges.

Player team screen in Pokemon Reloaded showing six creatures with levels and health bars

Gym leaders in Pokemon Reloaded game punish one-dimensional teams. Real-time combat means a single weakness gets exploited fast, so coverage beats raw power.

The coverage rule

Aim for six creatures covering at least eight types between them, with no shared double weakness across the team. One bulky water type, one fast electric or grass type, one fire or fighting attacker, one psychic or dark utility pick, one flying or ground mover, and a flex slot for the upcoming gym. That skeleton beats every badge with swaps, not levels.

Roles that matter in real-time

Speed matters more here than in turn-based games: a fast attacker that dodges wins matchups the type chart says it should lose. Keep one dedicated dodger, one tank that can eat hits while you reposition, and one status inflictor for bosses. The battle guide explains the footwork; the move set guide picks the attacks.

Sample badge-run roster

A proven core: a water starter or Vaporeon, an electric type like Jolteon, a fire or fighting attacker, a psychic type, a flying type for mobility, and a ground type for electric gyms. Adjust the flex slot per leader using the gym leader guide.

Quick answers

What level should my team be for each gym?

Roughly the leader ace level plus two. Over-leveling by five or more trivializes the fight but is always an option if you are stuck.

Is a full team of six necessary?

Not strictly, but six gives you swap options mid-fight, which is the strongest tool in real-time combat.

Should I use legendaries?

They trivialize gyms. Save them for post-game content and enjoy the badge run with a normal team.
