Best Starter Pokemon in Pokemon Reloaded

Which starter should you pick? A breakdown of each choice, early-game matchups, and the pick that makes the first gyms easiest.

Your starter carries the early game in Pokemon Reloaded for Android, so the choice matters more than it looks. Real-time battles reward the starter that covers the first two gyms, not just the one with the coolest final evolution.

The three choices

The fire starter hits hard from the start and shreds the early bug and grass types on the first routes. The water starter is the balanced pick: solid defense, good matchups against the first gym, and a smooth mid-game. The grass starter starts slower but walls the early water and ground types that trouble the other two.

Early gym matchups decide it

The first gym leans on rock and ground types, which favors the water and grass starters. The second gym brings faster flying types where the fire starter shines if you have kept it leveled. If you want the smoothest first hours, take the water starter; if you want the most fun, take whichever you like and lean on caught teammates to cover the gaps. The gym team guide shows how to build around any starter.

What about evolutions?

All three starters evolve twice at the usual levels, and their final forms are all viable for the late game. Evolution timing matters more than the choice itself; the evolution guide lists every method. New players should also read the beginner tips before the first route.

Quick answers

Can I get all three starters?

You pick one starter at the start of the game. The others can appear later through trades, events, or post-game areas depending on the build.

Which starter is best for beginners?

The water starter. It has the kindest early matchups and forgiving defenses while you learn real-time combat.

Does the starter choice lock me out of anything?

No. Every starter is viable for the full game, and wild catches fill any gaps in your team.
